I gravitated to 2 social justice issues, 1. the climate crisis 2. the cost of living crisis. My teaching practice relates for to the climate crisis, having often specialised in (un)sustainable design and design for change. Currently I am not doing this at UAL, but am doing this at another teaching role I have at The Margate School, where I co-lead on the Visual Communication PG Cert Design – Society – Nature.
I wanted to build on my past and current practice in this area and explore the methods I adopt to explore these topics with my students. The course is also very closely connected with the local community and town and I wanted to utilise and strengthen this connection through the Design Society Nature project and teaching / leaning.
