Empathy can be a good and neccessary emotion, but I don’t want to ‘universalise’ an experience of someone else, with their own specific lived experience and intersectionality.
Is not calling on your own empathetic recall of personal experiences, the better (more helpful) response, so it doesn’t take anything away or divert from another’s experience?
