I am interested in object-based learning & how an object can be a vehicle for narrative.
Speculative exercise of imagining a vision of the future using objects to think about human experience & behaviour.
________________________________________________________
This connected to a unit assignment I am currently teaching, whereby I introduce a speculative exercise. Student’s imagine a vision of the future using objects ‘artefacts’ to think about what the human experience and the designed world may look like in 2050.
Interrogated objects using the Pestle analysis;
- Political
- Economic
- Social
- Technology
- Legal
- Environmental
Then reimagined these objects in the future, in 2050.
The object reimagined in another time & space (Artefact 2050) To imagine a future scenario became easier & richer when we began imagining everyday objects / artefacts in that future scenario. How would they be used in the future, would there be a use for them?
